How JWT Decoder works
A JSON Web Token commonly contains a Base64URL-encoded header, payload, and signature separated by dots. Decoding helps inspect claims such as issuer, subject, audience, and expiration time.
The tool splits the token, converts the first two Base64URL segments to text, parses them as JSON, and displays readable header and payload objects. The token never leaves the browser.
Decoding does not verify the signature and does not prove that any claim is trustworthy. Never accept a token based on this output; production systems must validate its algorithm, signature, issuer, audience, and time-based claims.
