How Timestamp / Epoch Converter works

Unix time counts elapsed seconds from 1 January 1970 UTC, while people usually read calendar dates in a time zone. Converting between them helps debug logs, APIs, databases, and scheduled events.

Numeric input is interpreted as seconds or milliseconds based on its size; date text is parsed by the browser. The result includes ISO UTC time, local display, Unix seconds, and Unix milliseconds.

Date strings without an explicit offset can be ambiguous and browser parsing rules vary. Include a time zone in shared timestamps, watch the seconds-versus-milliseconds distinction, and verify daylight-saving transitions for scheduled events.
